People Spat at Vanessa Paradis

People Spat at Vanessa Paradis
Vanessa Paradis

struggled to fit in after she found fame as a teenager and was bullied by girls at her school who "hated" her music. The French singer/actress released her debut song "Joe Le Taxi" in 1988 at the age of 14, and it became a worldwide success, topping the charts in her native country for 11 weeks.

I recorded Joe Le Taxi and then when I went back to school after summer vacation suddenly I was a celebrity and my face was on the cover of every magazine."

"Many people loved the song and were great fans, but there were many people who hated it and hated me. It was a torture for me. Some girls spat at me on the street. I never understood that kind of hatred."
